Nursing Home

How can I volunteer at the Care Center?

Call our volunteer coordinator to get started with us. We have all types of projects to fit your time and your talents. Volunteering is an excellent way to learn more about us by seeing our care and services for yourself.

Do you offer temporary care such as respite care or rehabilitation after being hospitalized?

Respite care and rehabilitation are different services than what we provide. Our facility is set up for long-term care, to be a permanent home for our residents.

How can I know whether I need assisted living or a nursing home?

Our admissions director can help you answer this question based on the extent of care that is required. Generally, assisted living helps people with things they have difficulty doing alone. Nursing care does things for people which they cannot do for themselves.

Will Medicare pay for your services?

All of our beds are certified for both Medicare and Medicaid. We are licensed for both basic and skilled care. Medicare is a hospital insurance so there are specific guidelines as to when Medicare can be billed for room and board. However, if the need arises, we can bill Medicare when necessary.

Medicare will still pay your medical expenses such as doctor appointments, physical, occupational or speech therapy, podiatry and special diabetic shoes just as they did when you lived at home. You may have a co-pay for some of these services.

Medicare does not pay for the rental of durable medical equipment, such as a wheelchair, for Care Center residents. If Medicare is currently paying for rental equipment it will need to be returned to the rental company. We will provide a wheelchair for you if you need one and do not own one.

If a resident is on Medicaid, will the family have to pay anything?

There is normally a co-pay for Medicaid, which is determined by a formula that allows for the income of the resident and the needs of a community spouse. Children are not expected to contribute to the nursing home care of a Medicaid-qualified resident.

How do you qualify for Medicaid?

There are both financial and medical criteria to qualify for nursing care under Medicaid. In basic terms, an applicant must have exhausted their other financial resources and be referred to nursing care by a physician. Our admissions director can help you with more detailed and personalized information.

What are your rates for nursing home care?

Call our admissions director at 586-285-7122, for the most current daily rate information.

Can residents transfer between Care Center facilities?

When needs change, it is often possible for residents to move from one level of care to another and still be able to remain within the Care Center campus.

What are your visiting hours?

There are no formal visiting hours here – please come whenever you wish. We hope you’ll be able to visit often and feel comfortable here. Visitors are invited to join us for meals, activities and worship services. Family pets are also welcome to visit (must be vaccinated and in good health), and certainly brighten a resident’s day. We do ask that visitors be considerate of all resident’s needs during late-hour visits.
